Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the stomach (Inflammatory variant)

Abstract
The concept of the malignant fibrous histiocytoma(MFH) was introduced in the early 1960s to describe a group of soft tissue tumors, presumably derived from histiocytes, which was often characterized by a storiform growth pattern. Typically, the tumors arise on the extremities or in the retroperitoneum and are located adjacent to deep fascia or within skeletal muscles., Local recurrence and distant metastasis are very common.
Recently, malignant fibrous histiocytomas were found in the whole body, such as mediastinum, heart, lung, parotid gland, pancreas and spermatic cord etc. Malignant fibrous histiocytomas developed in the intra abdominal organs are very rare and only several cases (in the rectum, the head of pancreas, greater omentum and colon, etc.) were reported until now.
Authors experienced one case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (inflammatory variant) developed in the stomach with ulceration Apr. 1983 and followed up for 2 ¨ö years.
